Time to get serious about men's NHS Health Checks

Healthwatch England's new research shows that too many men are missing out on the NHS Health Check, which is essential in preventing illness and saving lives.

The NHS Health Check was introduced to help prevent, detect, and manage life-threatening illnesses such as cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Yet Healthwatch England's latest research reveals that just 37% of men who are eligible for the checks say they’ve ever been invited to one.

The government’s consultation on the upcoming Men’s Health Strategy highlights CVD as a priority. Louise Ansari, Chief Executive at Healthwatch England, described the strategy as “a crucial opportunity” to prevent premature deaths from CVD.

To find out what needs to happen to ensure all eligible men are invited to this potentially life-saving health check, read the Healthwatch England blog.
