England’s top midwife is urging expectant mums to get the COVID-19 vaccine after data shows the overwhelming majority of pregnant women hospitalised with the virus have not had a jab.

The figures also reveal that no pregnant women with both doses of the vaccine had been admitted to hospital.

Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, Chief Midwifery Officer for England, said: “Vaccines save lives, and this is another stark reminder that the COVID-19 jab can keep you, your baby and your loved ones, safe and out of hospital."

A walk-in clinic for pregnant women wanting the Pfizer vaccination is available between 9.30am - 6pm every Tuesday at Northwick Park Hospital.

The Northwick Park clinic will run throughout September and visitors should go to the Blossom Team Clinic Room on Level Six of the Maternity Department.

The clinic is available to women at any time during their pregnancy and they can turn up without a prior appointment.
