Government says taking paracetamol during pregnancy remains safe
News - 23 September 2025
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) confirms taking paracetamol during pregnancy remains safe and there is no evidence it causes autism in children.
In response to comments made by the President of the United States of America linking autism and Tylenol (paracetamol), the MRHA confirmed the safety of taking paracetamol during pregnancy and that paracetamol should be taken as directed in the patient information leaflet.
Ambitious about Autism are working with London Ambulance Service to improve how emergency medical services (including 111 and 999 as well as ambulance use) work for autistic young people in London.
